Privacy Policy
The short version. We collect your name and email if you join the newsletter, and the details you type into the form if you enquire about booking Phil to speak. We use that information to reply to you and to send you things you asked for. We do not sell it.
Analytics only run if you accept them on the banner. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing phil@phildaru.com.
01Who we are
This website is operated by Daru Strong ("we", "us", "our"), based in Florida, United States. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
For any question about this policy or about your data, contact phil@phildaru.com.
02What we collect, and why
We only collect information you choose to give us, plus a small amount of technical data described in section 4.
| When | What we collect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You join the newsletter | Your name and email address, plus which part of the site you signed up from | To send you the updates, offers and announcements you asked for |
| You send a speaking enquiry | Your name, email, organisation, phone number, event name, date, location, format, audience size, budget range and whatever you write in the message field | To reply to your enquiry and discuss the booking |
| You browse the site | Aggregate, non-identifying usage data — pages viewed, referring site, country, device and browser type | To understand which pages are useful. Only collected if you accept analytics |
We do not ask for and do not want payment card details, government identifiers, or health information through this website. Please do not send them to us here.
03Our legal basis
If you are in the UK, EU or another region with similar law, we rely on the following bases:
- Consent — for newsletter emails and for analytics. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for responding to a speaking enquiry you sent us, and for keeping the site secure and working.
- Legal obligation — where we have to keep records, for example for tax.
04Cookies, analytics and local storage
This site does not use advertising cookies and does not track you across other websites.
Browser storage we always use
We store a few small values in your browser's local storage so the site behaves sensibly. These stay on your device, are not sent to us, and are not used to identify you:
- Whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so we do not ask again.
- Whether you have already subscribed or dismissed the newsletter prompt, so it does not keep reappearing.
Analytics — only with your consent
If you press Accept on the banner, we load Vercel Web Analytics. It reports aggregate figures — page views, referrers, country, device and browser type. It does not use cookies to follow you between sites and does not build a profile of you.
If you press Reject, the analytics script is never loaded.
To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser settings; the banner will appear again on your next visit.
Embedded and linked services
Some pages link to or embed third-party services — YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Skool, Calendly and our social profiles. When you interact with those, that provider's own privacy policy applies, not ours.
05Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We share it only with the service providers that make this site work:
| Provider | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Vercel | Website hosting and, with your consent, analytics |
| Supabase | Secure storage of the newsletter subscriber list |
| Resend | Sending newsletter emails, and delivering your enquiry to our inbox |
| Calendly | Consultation scheduling, if you book a call |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, safety or property.
06International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers are primarily US-based. If you contact us from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, where data protection law may differ from your own. By sending us your details you understand that this transfer takes place.
07How long we keep it
- Newsletter details — until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Speaking enquiries — for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any resulting booking, and then for our business records.
- Analytics — held in aggregate by our analytics provider and never tied to you personally.
08Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it.
- Stop using it for marketing — every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and it works.
- Receive a copy in a portable format, or object to or restrict how we use it, where that right applies to you.
Email phil@phildaru.com and we will action it. We will not charge you and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are in the UK or EU and you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your national data protection authority. If you are a California resident, note that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
09Security
The site is served over HTTPS, subscriber data is held in an access-controlled database, and only people who need access have it. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security — but we take it seriously and we keep the surface small on purpose.
10Children
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete them.
11Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clear on the site.
